Review of Logging 10000 Years in The Future
This is one of those painfully mediocre manga that survives purely on the MC’s power flexing and absolutely cursed cliffhangers, constantly making you think: "I’ve already read this garbage for this long, I’m not dropping it right when it’s finally getting good.". The problem is: it never gets good. One cliffhanger just leads to another cliffhanger. The story, which was already mediocre to begin with, stretches itself so far that it completely loses all meaning, while the MC keeps power flexing and humiliating everyone who ever doubted him. Well… at least until he leaves Earth, after that, instead of power flexing, he starts doing the third thing I hate most in stories like this: HIDING HIS IDENTITY AND PRETENDING TO BE WEAK., seriously, nothing pisses me off more than this trope. It’s not like he’d be in danger if people found out who he really is. This bastard has enough power to solo almost the entire universe. The only reason he hides himself is for his own self-satisfaction.
You spend an entire month reading and building hype for the next big fight, or for the MC to finally reveal himself and solve the situation… but no. He lets a bunch of people get completely screwed over because “it’s not his problem,” just so his eventual reveal feels more impactful. (Seriously, the guy waits until things reach the absolute worst possible point before doing anything, even though he could’ve solved everything easily with almost no collateral damage.) And then, when the fight finally happens, either it gets dragged across multiple painfully slow chapters, cut apart in the sloppiest way imaginable, or it ends in literally two panels, with the MC showing off his wonderful protagonist powers and instantly killing all the hype (There are stories that know how to keep a fight exciting from beginning to end, but this is not one of them.)
Another problem is the COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT SIDE CHARACTERS, the author wants the protagonist to be the coolest being in the universe, and that’s normal for this kind of story. What isn’t normal is completely forgetting that other characters exist. And when I say side characters, I don’t just mean NPCs, I mean literally every living being in this story who isn’t the protagonist, His family? Forgotten. His wife? Forgotten. (The author even came up with a lame excuse saying her pregnancy would take years because of the protagonist’s power, but that’s obviously just an excuse to keep her out of the story.)
And on top of all that, there’s the art. Honestly, I don’t expect much from the art in stories like this. It’s usually mediocre by nature, because the story itself lacks enough depth to attract an exceptionally skilled artist. (Not trying to disrespect the artist’s work — it’s just not comparable to other series, and it probably doesn’t pay nearly as well as the more hyped ones.) But the real problem is that, in many moments, it’s painfully obvious that the backgrounds were made using AI.
Anyway, all I can really say is this: This was a promising story at first. The beginning was genuinely enjoyable because it felt dynamic. But like what almost always happens with these Chinese cultivation stories — especially after they introduce interplanetary civilizations — this turned from a cool cultivation story with cheat abilities into a mediocre intergalactic battle story dragged out far longer than it should’ve been, with more cliffhangers than actual character development.
This is another one of those stories that, just like The Lord of The Wheel of Destiny, I wish 🪓 El Machadon would deal with somehow, because then at least I’d finally stop reading it. (Seriously, I have a real problem dropping stories halfway through, even when they’re terrible. Something inside me keeps telling me I’ll miss the good part if I stop reading… but what I actually end up missing is my time.)
