🔥 Instructions#
🥩 Sear the meat (essential for flavor)
#
In a large pot (or pressure cooker), heat a drizzle of oil.
Add the beef pieces and brown them well on all sides until caramelized.
This step is what gives it that “stovetop barbecue” flavor.
🧅 Sauté the aromatics#
Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until golden.
Add the Spice Mix and stir for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, just enough to release the aroma of the spices.
🫗 Cook#
Add the soy sauce and a bit of salt (carefully — soy sauce is already salty). Cover the meat with hot water, about 1–2 fingers above the meat level.
- Pressure cooker: cook for 45 minutes after pressure builds.
- Regular pot: simmer over low heat for 2 to 2½ hours, until the meat pulls apart easily.
🍴 Shred (Optional)#
Remove the meat pieces, discard the bones (if any), and shred the beef using two forks.
🍲 Finish the sauce#
Return the meat to the pot with the broth. Cook uncovered over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and coats the meat well.
Adjust the salt and, if desired, add another drizzle of soy sauce.
🌿 Fresh and aromatic finish#
Turn off the heat and mix in finely chopped parsley and green onions. This adds freshness and balances the warm spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and cumin.
